I don’t understand the popularity of LED flashlights using AA (or AAA!) batteries. Yes, I know, LED lights use less power, but I see that as a poor reason to carry less reserve power.
I prefer the heft of a flashlight that runs on C or D cell batteries. If I want a small, lightweight flashlight, one that runs on 2 C cells seems to be about right. That’s what I used to carry back in the day for backpacking. I don’t think C cells cost any more than little AA cells and last many times longer.
