I have been camping for over 40 years now. When raising the kids, we did more camping in the winter since we had more time off with work and school. Well, the kids are grown and now I'm single again. I have been fulltiming it for 3 years now. I still get a lot of time off during the winter so I take advantage of every weekend and 2 weeks for Christmas.
Presently I'm in Delaware....
Delaware now has 4 open for the winter.....Lums Pond, Killens Pond, Delaware Seashore, and now Trap Pond is added to the list. I have not stayed at Lums, but know 6 sites have electric. I am not sure if a bath house is open. Killens Pond has a heated bath house which is open for the winter and electric sites. Trap has C section open with electric sites but bath house is closed. Delaware Seashore is the only place that has both electric and sewer. Bath house is closed. All of the CG's have a designated area to fill your water tank up. All also have dump stations BUT no water to flush your hose or tank out with.
I recommend it. Pack what you need, have fun and winterize before the trip back home. After you do it a couple of times, the winterization process can be done in a half hr or less. So what if the pool is closed, the fish aren't biting and you cant wear shorts. It sure beats sitting in front of the television at home getting fat. Happy Camping.
Delaware State ParksBENEFITS.... Choice of sites......No bugs..... Plenty of free fire wood on the ground..... (Del Seashore SP has a designated fire ring in one area only, no trees, no wood)....And if the weather is fair, you may have fellow campers for neighbors
