I did the hotel/motel/BnB thing for 12 years while riding motorcycles with the wife. While riding was the best part. The unloading of packed clothes and living out of duffle bag just wasn't fun. No where to really relax. Sure there might be pool, along with everyone else in it, or a bar at the hotel, but for the most part we just traveled until close to dinner time and called it a day.
I know you can just go to a destination spot and stay in a resort and have nicer amenities, but it never really feels homey.
When we are out with the 5th wheel we can setup our own home away from home for days at a time. Much more relaxing. No eating fatty high sodium foods everyday.
We went on a 7 day cruise last year for our 40th anniversary. It cost over $6,000. We flew from the west coast to Miami. That was two days RT of total dead time. While the ship and the cruise as a whole was great, it really didn't feel like a nice 1 week RV trip for me. It's nice to break from tradition once in awhile to get a different perspective on life though.
I'll stick to RV travel as long as I can.
