Did you include the cost of that F150 which cost 2 - 3 times the cost of a Ford Edge, or the additional cost of gas, insurance (including insurance on the RV), campground fees, maintenance on the RV, storage fees; the posts and pans, and bedding and camping chairs and all the stuff you bought to stock the RV; the firewood, the outdoor grill; and I could go on and on and on. The point being, if you think RV'ing is cheaper, you're kidding yourself. So be it.
The reason for RV'ing is not because its cheaper, its becaue you want that kind of lifestyle on vacation; because you can't roast marshmallows in the lobby of Best Western.
I've always had a truck. Always will. No storage fees either. I have multiple BBQ;s as well. Maybe for some it's a new life style. But for many it's just an extension of tent camping. I've been camping for 40+ years. Sure there's things you have to buy for RV'ing. But those things last many years. Not everyone needs to buy a special vehicle to go camping.
Figure $100-150.00 min a night to stay in a decent hotel and that adds up pretty quickly. Try staying in a hotel/motel/BnB 40-50 nights a year with your $40,000 Edge parked outside, eating meals in some restaurant and then add up how much that costs.
