The AAV is the Air Admittance Valve under your kitchen and bathroom cabinets that vents the sink drain so the vacuum doesn't suck all of the water out of the trap every time you use the sink. It lets air into the sink drain without letting air (spelled S T I N K) out. It is between the trap and the storage tank.
