  • I remember camping years ago in my motorhome in a remote canyon in the Anza Borrego desert east of San Diego. There was nobody for miles around and it was dead silent. I swear I could hear the blood coursing through my veins! I have to admit I was actually scared. I feared going outside at night in the pitch darkness. Of course, there was nothing to fear but I guess we all get used to being around people and then when no one is around it gets disconcerting. :E
