I've seen so many posts on this topic that I decided to write up everything I know about the three main ways to empty your waste tanks.
I never use a Stinky Slinky or Sewer Solution so wouldn't presume to know "everything" about their use but I have owned a FloJet Waste Macerator (a.k.a. Poop Cannon) for ten years now and hardly recognize what you're talking about. :h While I suppose there may be some high end MHs with factory installed waste macerator systems I can't say as I've ever seen a garden variety travel trailer such as I own with one nor do I see any reason at all I'd ever consider fabricating some way of permanently attaching my PC to my trailer. Why would I? ... after all it takes but nanoseconds to bayonet it on to the trailer's sewer outlet. As for power, sure it's an electric motor ... what a coincidence that both my trailer and truck offer that exact 12 vdc for running the pump simply by plugging it in. :C I wouldn't know about running the output hose uphill great distances as I only need 50' and it actually runs a bit downhill but IIRC FloJet does caution about running too much hose, especially uphill, 'though I've read others have easily run 100' up a fairly steep grade with no problems at all. As for keeping the grey waste gate open - why? When the pump isn't running the water isn't going anywhere ... I must be missing something here. Same for "slow" ?? ... I guess, if you mean macerating and offloading a 30 gal tank in a couple of minutes is "slow" ... it's just never occurred to me that was a problem. :@ Size of hose? ... geez, I use a contractor grade 50' 3/4" garden hose here at the house and when camping just a 25' length of 1/2" ... works just fine. Maintenance? ... what maintenance? I've used mine hundreds of times and have never done any maintenance on it. Clog up? ... sure, if you throw something in the black tank that shouldn't go in it you may jam the stainless steel impeller but put in the tank only what should be in there and there's no reason for the PC to jam. Costly? ... well, I suppose $200 isn't "cheap" but at my amortized cost of ~ $20 a year over ten years I wouldn't for a moment consider my PC a "costly" investment. If I even thought for a moment that this one was going to fail I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to just go buy another rather than waste $$$ on a stinky slinky or sewer (non) solution. Obviously you have a different take on this so just call me confused. :?
