We just do the basic sewer hose and leave the gray tank open until the last night or morning we are leaving. I hate being in the shower if I forgot to open it and the water backs up.
As for the other 2 methods, with the sewer hose the key is to get that rush to clean out the black tank. With the 2 other methods it would seem that the solids would settle to the bottom of the tank and not flow out, eventually leading to big problems in the tank.
