There should be a law

Certainly understand the frustration. Been there as well. I've come to not expect wifi that works well, and make my own plans accordingly.

As pointed out, there is no minimum standard. Unlike electrical connection (advertised 50 AMPs, should expect 50 AMPS), since there is no minimum standard, no way to prove they aren't living up to their advertising. If you connect, but it takes you 30 mins to download an email, you've still connected, so they, in effect, met their obligation of "free wifi".

Parking generally isn't free at the Hilton or most other high end hotels either. So what's your point?

Whereas parking and WiFi is generally free at the mid to lower level motels/hotels.

You want the ambiance then pay for your WiFi and parking, just want a room, get the free parking and WiFi. Or go to a campground.

WIFI isn't free at the Hilton, or at most of the nicer hotels . Why should it be at an RV park ?

As RV park WIFI systems evolve there will probably be two types of service; one free for email and general internet browsing and a pay service for higher speed and bandwidth. Most systems were never intended to provide streaming service. Some people always seem to expect steak at a hamburger price. Remember it will cost you $50.00 per month for Verizon MIFI for just 5 Gigs and you won't be doing much streaming with that.

We've had to go to McDonalds several times. Even though they have WiFi they don't upgrade it to handle the whole park, for whatever reason and then....on weekends or even weekdays the Kids and others use streaming video movies etc.
About 3:00 in the morning, maybe you can get to your emails and do correspondence. On Holiday weekends forget it. Only those kids near the wifi pint get to use it.
Come to the lake or parks to wath movies on the laptop?????

Campgrounds will start to understand that more and more campers/RV'ers want usable WiFi, and will move on to places that actually have it. Poor WiFi will deter some people, and deter more as time goes by and internet access becomes more than a luxury.

I'm sure the "poor internet" campgrounds will experience the same fate as Camping World is experiencing. All their customers are rushing to the competitors because of customer service. :S

So because you don't care about wifi and Camping World is still in business, no one else should expect an RV park to provide free advertised wifi that actually works? Everyone else is stupid :S to expect they should get what they're promised.

Some peaple Ned's it and are willing to pay for it, we do but don't nead playgrounds amenity bloks or golf courses, if you advertise u have it it is ment to be usable. Last year on way back from Alaska we stopped at a butiful spot out in the newer newer in Canada no charge, next night it was wery hot and desidet to go to campground in Calgory, paid a high charge for full hook op the power was so bad we coud not run ouer single airconditinor the only reason we stopped there. Every body was complaining but it was my fault for not knowing that the stampede was on.Sorry I did not get a apologi or a discount.
