Things that go Crash in the night! (Or day). Share yours?

Got another one:

Was camping a couple years ago at Whiskey Creek, a small private campground we like to frequent. One of our friends was camping with us and had his 10x12 wall tent set up just ahead of our trailer. Over the day we'd generated a small amount of garbage in a bag, mostly paper and paper products. DW figures it's time to burn the garbage. What we didn't realize (or we forgot) was that a couple AA batteries had made their their way into this bag. DW throws the bag into the fire.

Fast forward about 5 minutes when there's this gawd-awful humongous BANG! that had us all diving for cover. Second later we hear this whistling sound and something landing on the tarp cover friend's tent. It stops right at his feet.

As the dust settles we realize that this "something" was one of the AA batteries that had exploded from the heat of the fire and had rocketed up and over to the tent. It was still smoking several minutes after landing!

So, there is a good reason why they tell you to not put batteries in a fire!!:E:E

We had the same event up north of Wichita, KS. I was watching TV in the bedroom and Anne was in the living room watching a diff. show. When we felt the quake we both leaned forward to see what the other was doing to cause that. Then FB lite up with talk of the earthquake. @ after shocks interesting.

X2. I try to avoid parking under pine trees for that reason, not to mention the sap dripping on your stuff. Unfortunately my fiver is located partially under some pines right now since I had no choice but to park here (last site available). The good thing is that only a small portion of a pine tree is directly above my bedroom area and the cones aren't too large. So far, no "bangs" in the night. :C

Had a tire explode under me on the couch when I was sleeping... was sleeping that is had a hard time sleeping since I couldn't figure out what it was. About a year later when I was moving it finally figured it out.

In Az at a campground, ferget the name. A helicopter hovered overhead, during middle of night at about 50 ft maybe. A little later 3 or 5 helicopters were overhead and buzzing around. Next morning at office was informed that an agency was using the parking lot for landing. They were pursuing drug gangs from Mexico.

Hickory nuts, with their green hulls, make more than a little racket. Imagine a half-sized golf ball.

Crunching! 5am - dog was in her bed, so it wasn't her chewing on some of her food! That kept me awake just knowing there was a little critter inside. We did get that little bugger in a trap that night. No more dog food sitting out except at meal time.

Not as much of a mess as spaghetti-Os..but they never actually caught fire.

It could have been much worse; someone could have been out near the fire and the sparks could have started a major fire. It was a really dumb stunt by whoever did it, but the results were that the party folks packed up and left immediately. I guess they figured someone was even more nuts than they were.

So this mysterious explosion happens and you just happen to know the destroyed can was "green beans" ? Oh yeah? Do you happen to think they were on sale, too? LOL.

I am thinking about the MESS that hot flaming green beans would make out of a camper...
