- dbblsExplorerI considered a softener but i am on a restricted salt diet. Doctor said not to get one.
- SCVJeffExplorerGot the blue one.. If the resin is properly flushed there should be no salt to damage to any of the plumbing. On the other hand, mineral deposits around the faucets and in the shower are almost gone.
- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIUse one (On-The-GO) for 7 yrs. FTng.
No build up on faucets, no excessive water spotting in shower, no scaling in porcelain toilet bowl and minimal scaling in water heater.
Not worth a hoot for making coffee........:B
On-The-Go, Flow-Pur, WaterStick make portable softeners.
8000 grains and 10,000 grains are popular sizes. - YC_1NomadDitto: And grab some quick disconnects and one short jumper hose for backwashing and regenerating. Ours works great.
- 8ntw8tnExplorerWe've used a RV-Pro water softener for the last two years. It uses non-iodized table salt (mine uses two pounds of salt) to regenerate. It's worked very well for us.
- ronfishermanModeratorWe have been using a blue On-The-Go softener since 2007. No plumbing problems. I need the softened water for a skin condition. There are other units. But this one fits in the storage available in our motorhome.

- Jean_SExplorerWow. I will have to keep an eye on that. DH just brought it home and hooked it up, so I guess we aren't just thinking about it anymore. One thing the instructions warn about is to disconnect it while recharging and nottohook it back into your main system until the salt is cleared.
- 2oldmanExplorer III used to use one until I discovered my metal shower drain was eaten up.
- BumpyroadExplorermy BIL had the blue tank one that camping world sold. he seemed to like it.
