Theory has it Diesel is better for several reasons.. for one the max Combined gross Vehicle Weight is generally higher and thus they can tow more... That said... I choose Gas, for two reasons.. One being cost (About half) and the other being comfort (I understand Gas Engines better and really hate trusting my ride to a mechanic who may or may not know his you know what from a you know in the ground, with Gas I can at least Audit what he does).
Also some folks like the fact that the big D is many feet behind them and thus the ride is quieter.. Me,, I like the sound of a properly loaded engine. It's music to this farm boy's ears.
So you will note not one of my reasons helps you.. But the point is Gas or Diesel is really a personal decision.. IF I thought I could afford it.. I would likely have gotten Diesel and then studied the engines so I could audit as I do with this 8.1L Workhorse... But that's me.
