One other advantage of a tow bar with extendable arms is the quickness that one can unhook and re-hook a toad. Every once in a while, I've found myself in a spot where I can't turn around without backing up. You can't do that with any towbar without risking damage to things. With an A-arm hitch, if you find yourself part way around a turn and that space has run out, unhooking that A-arm will be a really difficult (and time-consuming) task due to side load on the towbar.
With our Ready-Brute (and a little help from the DW), we can be unhooked very quickly and easily.
