This summer ---- need suggestions please!

Hi All,
I live in the SoCal desert and by June we start hitting triple digit temps. So I leave every summer for about 4 months. I have been going to Mammoth but they have shortened the amount of time you can (dry) camp to 14 days and they are enforcing it. It used to be 42 days and they never bothered me for the whole summer. I spent this past summer constantly having to move, no fun!!

I live in my Lance truck camper for these months and pull a 20 ft trailer with a jeep on it.

So here is what I am looking for from June -October:

A place I can camp for several months without moving.
Temps below 95
If dry camping - need fresh water nearby (I am in a Lance camper on my truck)
Shopping/laundry nearby
If RV park - cheap monthly rates (I am on a tight budget)
Nearby fishing would be nice too.

Place can be anywhere in the western states.

So anybody know a place I can go? Or rent? Or????
Thanks!!

Would you consider this region a possibility ? We really like
the camping... just not sure how much boondock you want in your
    boondocking.

Google "boondocking in the White Mountains , Az." lots of scenic
and temperature coolness to choose from....even extended stays.

Thank you!!! I was thinking about the White Mts as a definite possibility!!
I saved the links and will be checking them out.
  • If I could find an rv park cheap enough that would be nice then I don't have to move so much, moving every 2 weeks for 4 months is not something I want to do
  • There are plenty of RV parks with monthly rates. It sounds like you want a national forest campground. Correct?
  • NM parks also have a 14 day stay limit but Heron Lake and El Vado Lake state parks are close together, are around 7000ft elevation, and have beautiful weather and scenery. The nearest town with groceries is Chama. You would have to move every two weeks but the move would be about 15 miles and would give you a chance to dump. Another option in the same area is Hopewell Lake Campground in the Carson National Forest, it is around 9800ft and is dry camping I believe. I do not know if there are any stay limits at Hopewell ask at Carson National Forest, 208 Cruz Alta Road, Taos, NM 87571, Phone:(575) 758-6200 or Email:

Thanks, but not exactly the "western" states :(

I have two suggestions: First: Move about, enjoy other sites.

Second point your map software to 46.59701 N by 85.24802 W
