That's good information. I've had lots of chiggers over the years and never found a good remedy. Rob Edmund's remedy is to take a hot bath and he suggests it (the prolonged heat, I assume) will kill the chigger. I'll try that next time.

The old fashioned remedy for chiggers is to coat the infection with finger nail polish. That is supposed to smother the chigger. I know one thing: If you don't cover the chigger with finger nail polish, it will itch like crazy for 3 days. If you DO cover the chigger with finger nail polish, it will itch like crazy for... 3 DAYS!

You've got to watch the long runners!

Thanks for the reminder. My DH had Lymes Disease, went undetected and resulted in a long hospital stay with permanent nerve damage.
Tip:
For Tick Removal,recommend applying small amount of alcohol to site. The tick will let go, making removal easier.

Treat Clothing in Permethrin is doesn't repel them it kills them when crawling on the treated clothing.

Good post and just what my dr. said. lOTS of bad info out there like using fingernail polish. They DON'T burrow under the skin, so that doesn't work no matter what people tell you!

The best treatment I have found for chiggers is the
Allegra intensive itch cream. I think it is new and it works for my wife an I. I have tried all of the other remedies but none of them worked.

For the itching you can buy OTC salves with Benadryl.

The advice I've seen for removing ticks is to grasp them with tweezers as close to the head as possible and gently pull them out.

For prevention the simplest thing to do is to pull your socks over the bottoms of your pant legs and inspecting the outer part of the pants periodically (and yourself if you have been in a tick-infected area.)

A generous splash of Jim Beam, three ice cubes, relax. Oh, and a dollop for the tick too. ;)
