Ah George, I understand the wanting to shut down the blog, and I will say that I'm a (of late) sometimes blogger, but not a reader of them (and have the appropriate level of dissonance about that). I generally steered clear of social/political opining when blogging, mostly because rv blogging is a separate entity from political/social blogging. Mixing them just doesn't work.
As I said, I haven't read your blog in years, but I can say that trying to bring a subset of readers to a different topic just doesn't work. And I suspect closing your comment section was an act of self-protection.
Seems to me that if one wanted to enter another topical field, one would have to start all over, without previous connections/readers.
