Tip If Your Ice Maker Quits

Our ice maker quit a few days into our trip. Until we can deal with that one way or another we needed ice but the 10-lb bags that are readily available everywhere were too big for our residential freezer. so i began searching for smaller bags and finally learned that Chick-Fil-A sells small bags of ice pellets for ~$1.50. the bag of pellets weigh about 6-lbs and completely fill our ice cube tray in our fridge. FYI.
  • I would never use ice that came through my rv freezer. I wont drink water that goes thru my Rv lines. I don't trust the sanitizing of those lines. I take bottled water and either make ice in trays or use my portable ice maker. Call me finicky, but that's just me.
  • I have a portable ice maker, just add water when needed, it makes about 21 lbs a day, and I usually give some to other campers too. We use it in the house when we have company too.
