Tire Born Dates

Only 5 tires on a motorhome?

I would want all my tires to be from the same run with the same date.

Up until about 5 years ago I never even gave tire dates a second thought. I've also never had any trouble out of my tires except for the junk tires that came on my toyhauler.

Granted, I wouldn't really want to buy tires that are several years old, but it's possible I've done just that in the past. How many people buy tires without having any idea of when they were manufactured and never had an issue? My guess would be tons and tons of people.

However, I was recently informed by a poster that the date a tire warranty begins is the date of manufacture, not the date of purchase. I'm not totally sure I buy into that, but I have no information to the contrary. That would put a different spin on knowing when your tires were made.

Why Goodyear ?

Thanks everyone...reviews a little mixed but much appreciated. I have practically a new Goodyear from a road hazard..and decided to go with the five new Goodyears...warranty starts the day of actual purchase....6-12 months seems to be the safe time. Thanks again.

Bought 6 tires in April with the condition that they all having been manufactured in 2017. Took the store 2 weeks to get them.

There is nothing wrong with tires that are 6 months old. They are still new as they were never used. I wouldn't hesitate!

Well yes there is. If you replace your tiers at 7 years for Motor home and 5 for a trailer it means you have 6 mouths les use. Unfortunately tires start to detreated when they come out of the mold not when they are installed.

Even Costco has been getting fussy about tire age and condition, insisting on replacing two at a time and putting the new ones on the back of our front wheel drive van. I've started leaving the van at home and taking just the wheel I want changed to the tire shop. No problem with that; it's not their fault if I have a crash because the emergency stop isn't as good on a curved road with a large puddle of water.
