UV exposure on anything is detrimental IMO. Look at the paint on the side of your house that gets the all day sun, plastic sky lights on the trailer or even the fiberglass sides of the trailer. Tires I think will suffer the same as any other thing that's left to the elements.
That said, I only cover my tires when parked in my yard. My covers are white and open in the back so there is no trapping of heat. When we travel I don't bother to cover them because we don't stay any one place more than 2 weeks at a time. I use 303 protectant on them too.
