Tire Gauges

Something happened today to make me doubt the accuracy of the tire gauge that I have been using the past few years. So what brand of tire gauge is a "good" one? How can you check the accuracy of a tire gauge?
Thanks for your help.

Whatever you have DO NOT have more than one! Or if you have a spare DO NOT use both of them at the same time.
With one gauge you know the pressure. With two you will probably never know the pressure!

That makes no sense. If you have two, and they differ by 10-15 psi, using the defective one would be disastrous.

If I have two that differ by that much I will find a known pressure to check or beg, borrow or steal a third to determine.

Just hope the third one doesn't read right in the middle between the other two. Then you won't know which one to throw away! :)
  • I have two of those Accutire thingies that agree with each other, a truck-type digi gauge that reads 3 psi lower and a TPMS that reads 3psi lower still. Which is right?

I asked at a Goodyear dealer about a reference gauge that I could compare against and he said that they just use the ordinary stick type gauges.
