Tires for Towing

Hello All,

I am probably way over thinking things but I am brand new to towing and currently have just purchased a new Jayco White hawk 25BHS Travel trailer which has a dry weight of 5360 lbs and a hitch weight of approx. 600 lbs and GVWR of 6500 lbs.

I plan on towing the trailer with my 2010 Dodge Ram SLT 1500 with 5.7 hemi and 3.92 gear towing package capable of around 10000 lbs towing.

My truck came stock with Goodyear Wrangler HP 275/60R20 which I have never been happy with at all. I am constantly slipping and sliding in the rain and to be honest I don't even drive the truck in the snow because my car handles better even with the truck in 4x4.

I plan on replacing the tires and figured it would be a good time because I just purchased the travel trailer. I have been looking online and phoning around but for the life of me I can't find an "E" rated LT tire with the size of 275/60R20. The one I did find is the Nitto Dura Grappler but I heard they aren't that good in the snow. Not that we get that much of it on the West Coast. They are also expensive in Canada coming in at $405.00 each.

Before my question here is how I use my truck and trailer. Most of my driving is on the highway and we will probably be towing the trailer to go camping 5 times per year. These will be full service sites.

I also might take the trailer dry camping about twice a year towing on a gravel or dirt road to go lake fishing.

My question is this and I'm sure it has been answered a hundred times and with different opinions:

1. Do I need an "E" rated LT tire

or Can I go with a better "P" rated tire like the following:

Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2
Cooper Zeon LTZ "load range XL"
BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO
Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10

Thanks for the help,

Pete
