Tires

I got two new radial tires yesterday. The guy told me I can run the two radials on the one side and the bias tires on the other. Is that right? Or does the bias have to be on one axle and the radials on the other axle
Thank you
  • Running radials and bias ply mixed on a vehicle is dangerous.

Running them mixed on the same axle is asking for an accident.

Put the radials on the same axle for now. Replace the other two as soon as you can.
  • DO NOT mix them on the same axle

Like wearing tennis shoes on one foot and dress shoes on the other foot

Sure you can walk, but run? Maybe, but not well. Jump, change
    directions, etc...nope...not well

The attributes are very much different between a bia ply vs radial

    Slip angle is different

    Reaction to steering input different

    And tons more ETC's
  • Based on everything I've ever read or been told.....
you [COLOR=]NEVER mix Biased and Radial tires on any vehicle
Anyone that tells you otherwise is not someone I'd do business with
    JMHO
  • I would also run them on the same axle...and find a new tire guy.
  • Tire mfg warn against doing so.
Never mix radials and bias ply tires as they have a completely different tracking/braking/rolling resistance operating characteristics.

You already have them so I would recommend using them on the same axle. That way braking is the same especially on wet pavement. Also if your doing tire temp checks the bias ply will operate hotter.

Now if its on a utility trailer hauling stuff from Lowes or around town anything will work.
