For all those questioning, here are the numbers (Titan XD 4x4 Kingcab 6'6" bed w/gas engine). It has the OEM gooseneck puck system also.
* Max Payload: 2,560 lbs.
* Max towing: 11,040 lbs.
* Wheelbase: 139.8"
* Tires: LT 265/60 R20 -E rated
As someone who has towed many TT's & one 5th wheel over the past 20 years, I know to leave a comfortable weight margin between the max numbers and my fully loaded truck & 5ver. Just my wife & I now. No kids. I agree, JIMNLIN, most people commenting here have no idea what kind of towing platform my XD is. And if I am uncomfortable once I start towing the new Crusader, the necessary changes will be made.
Now I know most everyone is trying to be helpful, That is the reason I post occasionally on this forum. I appreciate all of your feedback. My original question asked for comments about shortbed towing with the three hitches I am considering. Can we address that issue without questioning my wisdom? Thank you.
What year is this truck?
I look at the 2018 specs for an XD GAS King Cab wheelbase of 139.8" that is dang short. Over 5 inches shorter than fords 150 short wheelbase trucks at 145. :h. Also states max gooseneck TOWING capacity is 11,180 and the trucks gooseneck CARRYING capacity is at 1678lbs. If that's true there must be a reason for the rating possibly the frame isn't strong enough to handle more than that? You state payload at 2560lbs. Is that what is stated on the sticker inside your drivers door or is that the max from the specsheet? Those are 2 completely different things. As the 2018 spec sheet says for a 4wd completely stripped model max avail payload is only 2590lbs. If it were me I'd get the truck weighed with you and the wife in it with a full tank of gas and add whatever the anderson hitch will weigh and subtract that from your trucks GVWR. I would def watch that trailers hitch weight also being that Nissan actually limits the pin weight to 1678lbs also. Good luck
