Tomorrow's the day!!

I am finally going to see a neurosurgeon with my MRI in hand. I am so leery about this. The nerves are starting to do flip flops. Wish me luck! Oh and btw, what is an epidural for the back? Is is similar to getting cortisone? I am thinking this is for an opinion only just to see how I feel when I meet him. I am not in pain 24/7 like some are and thank God for that. I can't stand for long periods or walk a long ways but that's about it. I still think the knee doctor dropped me off the table because I was fine until the new knee. :h

  • Thank you everyone. Especially interested in how they decide to give you an epidural over cortisone, or visa versa?
  • I have had 4 epidurals in my spine so far and they have been a life saver. I can now turn my head/neck without any pain. Getting the epidural is very easy, so do not fear it. The first ones I got in Florida and they did awake sedation, so you have no idea what is going on. In TN, the just gave me a local, and it was even easier. It hurt less than getting the IV inserted in Florida for the sedation. Good luck with yours.
  • n epidural is basically a spinal needle, when you get an epidural you won t feel anything in that area for 3-4 hours maybe longer depending on the strength you are given. I had one for bladder surgery and it was 5 hours before I could feel anything below my waist.
