CAT scales, at your local truck stop, typically have 3 separate zones (steer, drive and trailer).
To get tongue weight, it takes 2 passes; one with the trailer (distribution bars must be disconnected) and another with just the truck (no trailer). Tongue weight is the difference between "the truck" values (steer + drive) - (steer + drive).
I recommend skipping past any instructions that have you disconnect ON the scale unless you own the scale!
Barney- I utilized the "home method" as shown in the boatus link. Helped rearrange my gear in the front storage bay, and keep my present hitch.
- Went to the CAT scales. My hitch weight is 3500#.
- Get a Sherline tongue weight scale or google "tongue weight bathroom scale" method
- Well.. if you have a small kitchen scale, or a postal scale, just put your salad tongs on the scale and see what they weigh. :)
