Tonneau cover pb with 5th wheel

I would like to get a tonneau cover for my new F350 dually.
I am thinking to go with a retrax.

Any problem with this for towing a 5th wheel.
I would like to be able to retract it when towing and not to remove it from the vehicle.

I am asking this as i don't have the 5th wheel yet and would like to buy the tonneau cover now

Thanks

I went with the Bakflip F1. Rails are flush with truck bed so there's no loss of clearance with 5th wheel attached.

I would have preferred a rolling cover but couldn't do that with the Transfer Flow tank leaving no room for the canister.

I have a Retrax Pro - love it and their customer service is fantastic.

But, Gunship Guy makes important points - with the extended pin box on my camper and the pinbox shroud (plastic covering it to pretty it up), I definitely have contact between the plastic shroud and the Retrax cover during sharp turns backwards and forwards.

I think the Retrax Pro has the smallest canister of the 3. But it's still in the way when you need the full 8' bed length.

We opted for the Retrax over the Backflip because my wife was using the truck as her daily driver and I had concerns for her being able to open the Backflip one handed (baby in the other). Turns out 99% of the time, we just drop the tailgate and that's enough.

Finally, we tied our tailgate lock into the power locks with an actuator. When we lock the Retrax, it gives us a nice secure truck bed.

The Retrax will work, also might look at the Roll-n-lock.

I had a RollnLock on my other truck,, a few things that I didn't like was having to unlock the cover to open the tailgate and it leaked at the tailgate....So when I ordered my new truck I purchased a Pace Edwards,,, no leaks and the tailgate will open without unlocking the cover.... Excellent cover..... T-10

  • I have a Pace Edwards Full Metal Jackrabbit cover that I believe is something similar to the Retrax.
Works great. When connected to the 5er I can either roll it completely in, or pull it back to near the hitch to cover anything I want covered in front of the hitch.
When unhooked, I can pull it back all the way to completely cover the bed and hide whatever I may have there.
Some hitches have a pull/release handle that sticks up well above the bed rails. You need a hitch with a handle that is below the rails for the cover to close. Or be able to remove the handle easily for that purpose.
  • I have the the retrax and love it. They have great customer service.
My cover slides over my pulrite hitch when not in use, and with a tailgate lock everything is secure.

    I have a roll n lock
They are great. my roll n lock just roll rate over my hitch and everything is out of sight and dry
  • I think it will work fine. I have the Truxedo Lo Pro. The only thing to keep in mind is the rails that mount to your truck will reduce your bed clearance by 3/4 - 1". It's a good idea to have at least 6" of clearance to your fifth wheel.
