Wow I did not expect this thread to drift this far off topic. The issue of storage is not an issue people with RVs worry about most RVs go through a tank in one day while a full tank in a Volt can last one year. I brought up storage because reading about fuel freshness is what led me to other issues. The only thing I felt had relevance to RV owners is fuel additives and quality. I intended to clarify the issue of whether there is any difference in the additives in name brand and a generic no name brand. Heck I don't even want to debate if one is better than another brand because I don't want to cloud up the discussion. Simply put some people believe that additives in brand A are the same as brand X. I would love to discuss if buying top tier is getting you better quality fuel but just coming to an agreement as to if there is any difference is difficult
IMO it is better to buy gas from a well established high volume station and add a PEA additive once or twice every 5k miles. This will ensure you have a good solvent (PEA) going through the system to keep it clean. If you are a good shopper you can find the additive very cheaply. Some brands are Techron, Regain and possibly Shell V-power. IMO a PEA additive is better than PBA which is what a lot of the cheaper gasoline and gasoline additives use (terminal dependent)
BTW I usually find good deals on additives at Big Lots
