One of the gasoline cars I own besides the diesel Dodge happens to me a Chevy Volt electric car with a gasoline range extender. Depending on a persons driving habits a tank of gasoline in a Volt can last one year. I learned about top tier gas and it's benefits after I got the Voly. Well Boo hoo to you. The difference is OCTANE rating and most people do not need to read about it to understand! And just what is "long term"?

I read all of what you linked.I have a question for you living in SC, where I have found all fuel is 10% ethanol vs. pure gasoline, so where do you find top tiered fuel, that you suggest? In IN where I live we do not have many station with 10% ethanol as most are all typical gas.

The only top tired station listed locally is Shell. Buying most if not all of my fuel from Sam's Club, which is the lowest price, in my area I have not found any problems as they have a high turnover of their fuel.
The only vehicle I own that requires 93 octane fuel is my 1963 Grand Prix with 10.25 compression ratio to prevent pinging/knocking.

I have not had any problems with my Sam's club fuel so will continue to use it, as my selection of fuels for our 1996 RAV4 with 90K mileage is running fine.

This topic reminds me of my experience in a Distillery where branded liquors were bottled. The booze was bottled and the labeling machine would add the correct label to the bottle, when that run was completed the line was stopped and new different labels were changed and the line restarted with the same booze coming out of the 10-20K gallon tank filling the bottles. You could find two bottles with the same contents but different labels, brands. This is the same for may products and brand labels.

I don't understand why you are getting angry with me over a simple discussion about whether all gasoline is the same.

Gasoline formulation is a lot more complicated that octane ratings. Increasing octane allows for higher compression without causing the engine to knock. But if you intend on keeping your vehicle for a long time it would be good to have additives that will protect the valves. Before lead was taken out of gas as an octane enhancer the lead also helped to protect the valves, I does not matter what you choose to believe or buy, I was providing info for people that are concerned about gasoline additives that will help prolong an engines life. If you don't like what I have to say I am fine with that but others have expressed their appreciation for sharing the information I provided.

As far as your comment about long term goes you can either read about it or ignore it but please do not dismiss it as inconsequential. The people that use gasoline powered engines to haul heavy loads work their engines pretty hard and in some cases additives can save the cost of an engine rebuilt or replacement.
