When we check in at the RV park, we ask the manager where the shelter is located. We turn on the weather radio. Know the difference between a watch and warning. If it's a warning, there is a tornado on the ground. You only have a few minutes to get shelter. Don't hesitate. I look at the atlas and find out what county we're located in and circle our location. That helps when they say there is a tornado in a certain city and what direction it's headed. Most (not all) tornadoes travel from the SW to the NE. We have even jumped in our toad and driven away from the storms (south) if there was no shelter. The closest we have been to a tornado in the RV was in Florida on the east coast. Tornado was 2 miles from where we were. Also straight line winds in Cincinnati 90mph did lots of damage to the trees in the park. We are not staying in our RV during severe storms or tornado warnings period!!
