Rock the OP stated that has wife was concerned about tornado's and the possibility of dying in one. The stats PROVE that very, very, very, very few people die in them in the US. When only about 60 people a year die in tornado's a year the chances of dying in them are VERY low; almost nonexistent for the average person.
The OP also stated that they were going to travel thousands and thousands and thousands of miles on their vacation. When over 30,000 people die on the roads of the US every year (about 100 a day) the chances or odds of being in a fatal accident are hundreds and hundreds of times higher than ever being killed in a tornado.
My point is this: If your advice is to be concerned about tornado's why aren't you doing your best to prevent bee deaths too? Why don't you advise him to put on bee suits every time he is outside? After all in your words, one death is too much. :R
Please quote me where I ever said don't be prepared. Go on, give it a try. The fact is, if you look it up I said: "Good advice. It's always good to be prepared and avoid a tornado."
