Tounge Weight

My objective is laughs and discussion...

But as I think about things- if I didn't have a crazy heavy drawbar, spring bars, two batteries and Lp tanks, I might not need a WD hitch...how many hundred pounds of stuff lives right there?

(FWIW- Spring bars have a secondary value of improving the ride by cutting down on porpoising- so I like using them)

  • Don't know what you're towing, but if you lighten the tongue to less than about ten percent of total TT weight, you're going to have very serious sway/stability problems.
  • It pays to have extra tongue weight as long as the TV can handle it.
  • Well you could put the LP cylinders, the trailer batteries in your tow vehicle......add an emergency brake away switch that has its own small battery.

That would take a lot of weight off trailer tongue and still have emergency brakes on trailer.......course all that weight would be transferred to tow vehicle
  • Gotta have a draw bar to pull your trailer.
Gotta have at least 1 battery to operate your emergency brake away.

I guess you could go without propane.

But, yes all that stuff does add significantly to the tongue weight.
