Tow Dolly and stabilitrak

After a "Test Run" with our new tow dolly around the neighborhood, our 2011 Buick Regal gave a (Service Stabilitrak) warning. I backed the car off the dolly and backed up about 30 feet and then pulled forward, turned the car off and then restarted. At which time the warning was gone. Does anyone know if this will be a problem? The car was off, in park, with key out doors locked while towing. Thanks Fred

  • It sets this warning because the back tires are turning and the front tires are standing still. This would cause an unstable condition if all four wheels were on the ground.
  • Thank you both. I reviewed the manual prior to towing. I was just curious as to why the message came up. The system reset and functioned properly after that. Thanks again
  • Dolly towing is on page 10-76 of your manual. Was your key at the "Lock/Off" position? Read pgs 5-18 and 5-19 of your owners manual. Also see 5-29 in references to any Ride Control System Messages. Also 9-34 and 9-36. After sorting through all that info, if nothing applies, call Buick and ask.
  • What does the vehicle operators manual indicate on the subjects of towing or recreational towing?
