I see that 5'ers in the 32'-34' range have a gross weight of about 15,000 lbs which, using the 20% rule would mean about 3,000 lbs on the pin. I now have the gross rear axle ratings but I don't have the net. What would the empty rear axle weight be, roughly, of a crew cab, long box pickup?
Thanks!
These wts will also depend upon the model of truck too, along with bed length. I've found most of my SW trucks have been in the low 2000 lb range, 2200-2500 or so lbs, Duallies around 3000. BUT, with this all said, SC may be closer than I am. I ran into a fellow the other day at a fuel station. we got talking and I looked at his door tag sticker, he had 200 lbs less payload than my dually, with a shortbed CC SW3500, and he also had 100 lbs more gvwr than I. So the newest trucks seem to be coming in a bit heavier than past trucks. I am also comparing GM rigs too, not a GM to a ford, which I would expect from past results, Fords do weigh more than GMs in similar body pkg sizes.
