towbar recommendations

Roadmaster, IMO, makes the strongest base plate setup for any truck. Also, their Falcon 2 A/T is rated at 6K, but when I talked to their tech team in Q, they said it was tested Waaaay higher than 6K and they would have no qualms towing over the rated weight, within reason. That is my setup. Their next step up is the Blackhawk A/T, which is rated a 10K. I bought a Roadmaster grill guard directly from Roadmaster, which mounts directly on the base plates when not towing, so it looks clean even with the brackets still installed.

If you want a good value for the $ towbar check out DEMCO, no fancy hype just value for your dollar.

I know you said "inexpensive", but I think the Ready Brute Elite with built in Ready Brake is the best "value" out there.

That one is only 5000 lb capacity. I already have one with that capacity. If I could find a similar bar with 6000 lb or more capacity, it would be perfect.

That one has potential, but I would rather have a ball hitch, and use the Ready Brake ball mount. Just one of my little idiosyncrasies.

I use a Roadmaster all terrain (I think that's what it is called), which stays on the coach when we disconnect and is reasonably easy to connect and disconnect since it adjusts when things aren't quite lined up. We tow a 4,600 lbs Hummer. It connects directly to your 2 inch receiver and doesn't use a ball. I would recommend one or something similar.

We previously had a Roadmaster that stayed on the tow vehicle when we disconnected. It worked ok, but connecting and disconnecting were more difficult. Don't remember the model number.

I have a road master and a ready brake. Just bought the ready brake. If I was starting from scratch the only thing that I would buy is a tow bar with a ready brake built in. Why do you want a ball type tow bar?

It is what I am used to, and I like it. I realize some don't like it. I do.
That is enough said about that.

I have the Falcon, I belive made by Roadmaster I have towed a Dodge Ram,
(Mitsubishi Montero) and now a Suzuky Grand Vitara, I like the fact that the unit stays on the RV, I can actually drive the RV with the tow bar attached to the RV and not have to fight the unit on and off.

I can also lock all the parts with pad locks and not worry about kids pulling pins out, or having anything stolen .

I can also remove the bar from the toad and there is practically no sign that the vehicle is towed.

I did the install on both vehicles and have had very good results.
