Towing 2003 Honda CR-V

I am buying a 2003 Honda CR-V and am going to set it up to tow behind my M/H Will be using the roadmaster brackets.
My question is. Do you do the same routine with the transmission as on the newer models.
Like to hear from anyone that is towing this model.
Thanks

I believe yes, if it is the V6 AWD...make sure you consult the owner's manual or if not avail, look it up online as 2WD may not be towable...Confirm before you pull the trigger...
    it was in '06
  • Thanks for all the input. May be a moot question as I haven't heard back from the seller of the Honda. Think they may have changed their mind about selling it.

  • There never was any V6 CRVs and both AWD and 2WD are flat towable.
    I had a an 04 but they all have the same protocol; foot on brake, idling, shift from P, r, n, d, 2, l, 2, d, n, idle 5 minutes.
Then in bold letters NEVER SHIFT FROM R TO N THEN IDLE OR DAMAGE WILL OCCUR.

Repeat every eight hours but I usually repeat every during a mid day stop.

04 Element (same drive train), 07 CRV. 09 FIT, 2011 Element.
Probably 300K drivin miles, 75K towing.
Honda recommends trans fluid change every 30K instead of 40K.

  • How new are you talking about? Get the Manual and go by what it says. My 04 I go thru the gears and put in Neutral run it 3 minutes and go.
  • the owner's manual should tell you how to do it. that is the only valid source, IMHO.
