2003, so a GMT800 and recommend changed it (if the previous hadn't
already) to a traditional receiver. They are in the $200 buck range, plus
about 1 hour to install
Can you clarify what you mean here? Have they recalled the trailer hitch receiver?

'Swaybar', as WD Hitch component, or rear axle anti-lean bar?
I do not recommend adding a rear axle anti-lean bar...unless you also
increase the stock front anti-lean bar to keep the handling the same.
The OEM dialed in the understeer/oversteer characteristics and changing
the rear can have an oversteering TV that will have a greater jack knife
tendency...not a good thing
I'm not familiar with a rear-axle anti-lean bar. I meant a friction-based sway bar mounted to the WDH, unless I end up getting a WDH with an integrated sway control like the Equal-i-zer.
Some call it anti-sway bar and is confused with the sway bar you
reference.
They can really upset the handling, but most who only install a rear bar
and not dial in the whole vehicle will only experience the negative
side during an emergency maneuver...where they will not have the time
to figure out what they need to doBenK wrote:
I had a 1973 K5 Blazer (2 door Blazer/Yukon) and installed 1 ton
suspension (Dana 60 front and GM 14 bolt rear...new leaf springs front
and rear) and towed many trailers
It also had commercial class tires with a load range G sidewalls.
Not fun and was all over the place when passing semi's and even passing
a stationary TREE on the side of the road.
But that had 106" wheelbase and was rated for 5000lbs towing and a 450 tongue weight. You clearly know more about trucks than I do, but it sounds like quite a different TV.
You are right, my K5 was is 2 door and yours is a 4 door, with a longer
wheel base. Mine with two classes higher suspension and tires could not
make up for that shorter wheel base
Still, be careful and learn quickly HOW2 handle the setup as any
setup can have issues.
Again, key is proper setup of what you have and the orientation of the
trailer...tongue weight, etc.
