Yes, the rating should be on a sticker on the hitch. It will either be 350/3500 or 500/5000, tongue/trailer weight.
Or you could just go ahead and tow it... On Sunday evenings I see several old motorhomes towing giant enclosed trailers on their way home from the race track. An empty 8.5x24' enclosed trailer weighs close to 4000lbs so they have to be pushing 7000-8000lbs in these trailers with the race cars/bikes and support equipment.
Just going on the rural nature of the area, I would bet they probably just hitch and go. That's how their daddy did it. That's how their granddaddy did it.
