Last minute plans all done, and ready to roll 4000k to Alaska for summer. My 08 F250 has a CC weight of 20,000 with max of 5000 on front and rear drive. Across the scales today:Front drive. 4980Rear drive 5420Trailer. 4680Total. 15,080I have stable loads installed, and added Firestone airbags running 30lbs of air. Max rating on front and rear is 6000 lbs each, with max rating on vehicle 10,000lbs, making me 420 lbs over on rear drive. I can remove one propane tank, and shave a few other pounds off rear, but will still be over a little. Any concerns with being over a little, suggestions much appreciated.Thanks,Steve

You gonna die!!! 4000 miles is a long way to drive that heavy. Folks will disagree with me but I am sure that that 420 lbs is well within Fords CYA factor. With air bags you should be ok,after all a f350 sw is the same truck with a stiffer spring. Naturally you should look at everything you are carrying and pare down if possible. Send your wife to wal Mart and take out the extra while she is gone. I would not sweat it. You should be able to tell in the first hundred miles if you are comfortable or not.

Any concerns with being over a little, suggestions much appreciated.Thanks,SteveI don't understand your numbers....you state max of 5,000# on front and rear axles, but you say, in paragraph under your numbers that the "max rating" on front and rear axles is 6,000# each:h "IF" that's the case, you're UNDER your rear axle weight rating by 580#...I'd air rear tires to max sidewall pressure...I'll "assume" they're "E" rated tires? I would air to 80 psi....appears you're pushing the rear axle weight rating, BUT if it's 6,000#weight rated per your second paragraph, you should be ok....Last thing I'd want to do on a towing trip that long would to be OVER my trucks rear axle weight rating.....GVWR? no big deal, most don't use that anymore....I do, but it's a safety thing with me.....I'd make sure you have the right tires for the job and air them to max psi...All the airbags do for you is level the load.....

2x check that rear axle rating, should be higher than 5000 lbs. Mine is 6084, exactly 2x the E tires rated at 3042 each. Can't believe a 250 pulling that size trailer would be over any ratings.

My FIL had a 99 F250 Superduty 4x4 Lariat that had about 1,800 lbs of payload. They can get pretty low.

If your TT is only 4800# and you're close with a 3/4 ton, we are all in trouble. It would have been good to know the before wt, so you knew how much wt is being added/transfered. Good luck on the trip.

Tires are Yokahama Geolanders max 3195 at 80lbs.
I feel comfortable with my setup, just wanted to double check my opinion.
With the flatbed, weight of dog box, 10 X 60lb labs, and some water, and the weight adds up quick..

yeah, you sound ok, you're using your numbers differently than most do in here...IF we see 6100# rear axle weight rating.....and you go across the scales and drive axle (rear axle) is reading 5420# for example, that means you're under your RAWR by 580#....that's it..nothing more...nothing less.....you're over thinking it..... You're under your rear axle weight rating and you're under your front axle weight rating....that's it....

You are under your front and rear axle ratings. You are only 400 over the GVWR. Personally I would not have a problem with those figures.

X3 on checking door sticker for rear axle rating...6100lbs??? Even if it is 5000 I would not worry about it assuming E rated tires... 3400 lbs.

Personally, I would not worry about it.
I weighed a rig once. Found it to be UNDER all ratings EXCEPT GCWR! It was 3000 lbs OVER that one. Since I had driven over the Rockies and the Sierras several times by then, I didn't worry about it. Nothing bent, nothing broke, nobody was injured or died.
As long as your tires are not overloaded, IMO you are good to go.
