6k dry or less should be fine for you. That's 7k loaded, and 900 pounds of TW. 600 left for people and bed full or cargo. Use a WDH and adjust to restore all lost front axle weight.
3.21 axle is not a problem for the 8-spd trans. It will perform better than the old 5/6-spd with 3.92. Limit gears to 5th top when towing and use tow/haul mode.
