I have towed a 2004 CRV and now towing a 2013 CRV...both without issues. I travel under 65 mph not because of the Honda limits but because it makes common sense. I cannot believe how fast some RV'ers travel with their MH's, 5th wheels and travel trailers. Speeding down the road is not worth risking our lives and the lives of others. People travel 70+ miles per hour so they can get to their destination 20 minutes sooner.

Remember, the max speed rating on tires is 75 mph. Tires that have aged some, hit a pothole or two or what ever are just not as safe as brand new.
Doesn't make sense to me to push the envelope. - CA_TravelerExplorer IIIMost of the AZ interstates are 75. Interesting that most truckers drive about 65.

Our first CRV had more than 200,000 miles on the odometer and more than 100,000 miles being towed. - Never more than usual maintenance.
Our current CRV has more than 100,000 miles and more than 50000 being towed. - Never more than normal maintenance.
We set MH cruise control at 64 mph.

This is our experience towing three Hondas as well. And great resell value as well.
Turn the key and it goes. - RinconVTRExplorerNot only is there a speed limit, but a procedure to follow when you stop to get the ATF flowing and refreshed where need be.
But its not as if when you go over 65mph, anything melts down. You can travel over this speed without fail, as long as you stick to reasonable speeds, required transmission fluid changes, and Honda's procedure. - RangeriderExplorerWe tow a CRV and stay under the 65mph limit stated by Honda in the owners manual. Our comfort zone is closer to 62mph anyway so it's easy for us.
- lj2654ExplorerAnyone going over 65 tops has got to be suicidal anyhow, but that's just my opinion. Some just can't slow down for any reason! We enjoy the ride between points A & B to much to be in a big hurry and risk our lives.....

Tom - rr2254545ExplorerIt about $4,000 to replace a transmission in a Honda, I would not do it.
I had a 2009 Honda Fit that needed one.
I am now very happy with my Jeep and the no restrictions that go with it - othertonkaExplorerThe 65 is set by Honda. In most cases 65 is fast enough for the MH/CRV combination. I have gone over 65 when coming down a long steep straight section of highway but only for short distance and then slowed down without having to use the brakes. Have towed this way for over 40,000 miles. So far so good. I also run the CRV transmission pre towing procedure through it's faze when I stop for lunch, it keeps the tranny lubricated for the rest of the day.
