towing mirrors question

Hello! Has anyone used these types of after market mirrors. I'm wondering about reviews but more specifically about the knob used for attaching them ... if it leaves a mark on the oem once the after markets are removed at the end of the season. Thanks, Terry

  • I used those mirrors for about 4 years and they never left any kind of mark. That knob bears on another piece of plastic and not directly against the truck mirror surface. The piece of plastic is formed to fit the contour of the trucks mirror.

I was quite pleased with the way they worked and didn't vibrate or come off yet they were very easy and quick to put on and remove.
I think they are the best of "inexpensive" add-on towing mirrors.

  • I had the equivalent (same brand) on my '97 F150. No marks. They are well manufactured in that regard. They slip on fairly easily and have a soft cloth like surface on the part that tightens down against your mirror.
  • Good mirrors compared with other add-ons. No mark. Used them on my last truck for 3 years.
  • I use the same/similar mirrors on my 2013 F150. No major marks; there might be subtle blemishes that can buff out.

The other day I tried taking them off and they were stuck! Turns out the puddle lamp at the bottom of my truck mirror melted the tow mirror plastic and it fused to the puddle lamp lens. Thankfully I was able to eventually release it. If your truck is equipped with puddle lamps under the mirrors, be sure to cut/drill out a hole in the tow mirror to accommodate the lamps!
  • I too used to use these on another truck we had. As said in another post the screw knob pushes another piece of plastic that is contoured to the shape of your vehicle (custom fit)On that piece of plastic I cut a strip of the "loop" piece of adhesive backed Velcro as an added shield. It worked great and never left any kind of mark.

Lights on bottom of mirrors that shine on the ground when door is opened. Shows you where the puddles are so you can step in them. LOL
