Sounds about right! and your 7000lb trailer is more likely close to 8200lbs loaded for a trip!
BTW, I average 7.8mpg towing my 9200lb trailer with my V-10 Excursion. what is your gear ratio? and are you running tires larger than stock? I`ve read a lot of people that claim 9-10 mpg towing similar weight trailers with similar trucks. unless they are always towing them at 45mph, There is no way!
