I get about 9-10mpg towing @60-65mph. My last trailer was about 9k lbs and I towed it through the smokey mountains and averaged 8.5 (I was thrilled!). Absolute best my truck will do is 14.0 on flat ground @ 55mph etc in perfect conditions. Only mod is a Hypertech mpg tuner (doesn't seem to help mpg but gives the truck much better throttle response). I had a K&N filter for a while but I saw no difference. I think if your truck was turbocharged you would see a difference.
