It wasn't trying to stop it, it was a braking test for the spacecraft. I sure hope Ford doesn't try to use this in a commercial. I thought the Toyota commercial made Toyota look silly.
Looks a lot less silly than some guy roping a huge alien and towing it through city streets by a GM, or what appears to be about a 10,000 pound lashed-down solid block of cargo being dropped by a crane from 10 feet into the bed of a Ford.
At least Toyota's commercial was "real".
