i have a 2002 gmc serria 2500hd and just got 35 FT COUGAR FIFTH WHEEL AND NOTICED ON SOME HUGE HILLS THE TEMP GOT TO 221 IS THIS OK IT CAME RIGHT BACK DOWN AFTER HILL??
For the real OEM trailer tow tests that we run our test abort point is 250F for coolant temperature, but do allow 245F peaks. We like to be below 210F for steady state operation.
It should be fine. You'd have to get the fluid hotter than that to do damage. Especially since this was short term. Have you consulted your owner's manual? It should tell you where teh proper operating range is.
Seems odd, granted there are many variables that need to be accounted for...but I've never hit 200...191 was the max this weekend, 23500 pounds total weight.
