- N-TroubleExplorerHas nothing to do with wheelbase... You are comparing two completly different trucks with different tire ratings/capacities and max PSI ratings.
With that light of a load behind the 1ton you definately dont need to be at max PSI (80lbs) but not going to hurt anything if you do. Just a bit stiffer ride.
Im about 80%empty/20% towing so always dump air from my back tires after taking the trailer off. BIG difference in unloaded ride quality. - the_bear_IIExplorerSome RV'ers I know will adjust the air pressure lower when not towing claiming they get a better ride.

Tires...when towing - air them all (truck and trailer) to max side wall pressure. - darsbenExplorer IIUntil you have actual weights then you pretty much have to run the max when towing.
