Towing tire pressures on short wheel base vs long

High guys, yet another tire pressure question. I've upgraded my tow vehicle from a Ram 1500 short bed quad cab to a Ram 3500 crew cab long bed. I always put max tire pressure in tow vehicle and TT but was wondering if the longer wheel base of new TV would take a different approach. TT is about 8k when loaded.

  • Has nothing to do with wheelbase... You are comparing two completly different trucks with different tire ratings/capacities and max PSI ratings.

With that light of a load behind the 1ton you definately dont need to be at max PSI (80lbs) but not going to hurt anything if you do. Just a bit stiffer ride.

Im about 80%empty/20% towing so always dump air from my back tires after taking the trailer off. BIG difference in unloaded ride quality.
  • Some RV'ers I know will adjust the air pressure lower when not towing claiming they get a better ride.

I'm like downtheroad.... I have enough to worry about so I keep the tires at the maximum sidewall pressure all the time.
  • I try to now make all this RV'ing thing more complicated than it needs to be.

Tires...when towing - air them all (truck and trailer) to max side wall pressure.
  • Until you have actual weights then you pretty much have to run the max when towing.
