Towing Weight

I was curious about the weight of my truck and camper and decided to do some weighing. I first had my camper and truck weighed on a CAT truck scale, while loaded and came up with 2960 lbs for steering axle, 3320 drive axle and 5740 for the camper axles. I then weighed my tongue weight with a load cell and got 906 lbs. I have a 2001 Silverado with a 5.3 and a tow capacity of 7300 lbs and 2015 Crossroads Sunset Trail 270bh with a dry weight of 5300 lbs. I am using a husky weight distribution unit with a range of 800 - 1200 lbs. I am not having any issues but just wanted to get some input on how this compared to others.

  • Sounds good. maybe try and move a bit more weight forward as rover bill mentioned. other wise enjoy it!
  • If you’re not having any problems with sway or instability, don’t change a thing. Have a nice trip.
  • If this were my rig, I would tighten-up the WDH to move about 150# from the drive axle to the steering axle. The trailer axles still have plenty capacity to handle the extra load. You'll have a much more stable rig with improved braking.
  • Seems as if you are within the limits. What’s the TV’s payload and what do you carry in the truck?
