When you unhook,loosen the chains completely so they are loose and not putting pressure on the spring bars, and put the support rods in place.(or make the jacks sloppy loose). Then put your thumb or finger on the joint where the stinger enters the truck receiver (or just watch rhat joint carefully). When you feel (or see) any movement there stop raising the tongue. You should then be able to pull out the stinger easily.
After unhooking as described above, LEAVE THE JACKS ALONE. Do not disturb the hitch head. This will allow you to hook back up again with the hitch head in the same position as it was when you pulled out. The only thing you will need to re-do is the height of the head with thw tongue jack so the stinger can enter.
This procedure works whether at an angle or straight in.
