I don't know anyone towing with a naturally aspirated gas engine that can tow 8000-ish pound TT up hills at 65mph. We all let the speed drop into the 50's, then drop a trans gear or two. All the modern gas engines in 3/4+ trucks will do just fine with at weight. But if the OP wants to flatten the mountains, not lose a single mile per hour, use cruise control, and stay in 6th gear? Only a modern diesel will do that.
