- SCVJeffExplorerEven if he did have a vote, I seriously doubt you would ever get close to a quarm allowing unrestricted parking on the street unless it's a Thousand Trails. This would have never come up anywhere unless it was abused, PO'd the neighbors, and got the movement started. We are a minority...

And tell me if you would be alright with people living in the rv.s and hoses and cords running across side walks and then tanks being dumped because it slopes toward the storm drains????No, well now just legislate the size of hose, amperage of cords and grey waters ok but no black.Ok define black and what degree of black is really black.Think about it and expand the box!!If you are comfortable with any of these and others aren't guess who is in the minority.Remember democracy,as long as it agrees with ME ok.lol.
Well, remember that we don't live in a democracy. It's a Republic. Very different. I'm assuming the OP doesn't get a vote in passing this ordnance. A voice maybe, but not a vote - pira114Explorer III'm all for ordinances against on street parking for too long. I see it as a safety hazard. In that sense, the cities have a responsibility to do/legislate something.
I am completely against any ordinance against parking on your own property. In or out of view. If you own the property, it's no one's business what you do on it. I'm funny that way. Individual rights are paramount to me.
But, I live in a town of 1700. Tiny by most people's standards. We don't have law enforcement, let alone code enforcement. And don't need it. We work things out together. I think most neighborhoods could work this way if people gave it some effort. But I don't see that happening.
It's just an opinion. Cities have the ability to pass codes. In that sense, you vote with your feet. Easier said than done, but if we really don't like the laws of a city, we're free to move. - Skid_Row_JoeExplorer24 hours is the time limit on any car, truck, RV in front of your home on the street without it moving. You have to move it then, after 24 hours. That's where the law becomes murky.
No one is allowed to spend the night on the street in the RV, anywhere in most cities, and of course here too. - NaioExplorer IIThe city where my S&B is has a 72 hour rule for all vehicles (including cars). It's only enforced if someone complains.
People in the neighborhood store their utility trailers and small TTs on the street, and there is a guy who lives in his TC and moves it a few blocks every once in a while.
It's a relaxed neighborhood. Not cheap, but not uptight. - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

this is a small rural town of 8000.....unless they have a way of making money off the storage it is just unreasonable
Small town......
Then get folks together and go to town council meetings and let town council know that 'ordinance' is not needed..that is IF you have enough like minded folks.
I currently live in small rural town......12000 and town council meetings are always full. Folks care about what goes on and aren't shy about letting council understand how they feel.
And it works........council listens. - musicman54Explorerour town dosent have any rules on parking rv on streets or you property but i paid a lot of money for my rv i dont want a drunk or crazy driver hitting my rv so i park it in a storage yard about a mile away
- Water-BugExplorerI've lived in cities where ANY vehicle parked on a city street overnight will be towed. The excuse is snow removal and street sweeping, very little of which seem to happen at night.

Considering all the posts on this forum advising newbies to 'camp' in their new RV in the driveway for a few days before leaving on a trip, this was pretty funny. - rhagfoExplorer III

There is a neighbor down the street that has his on the street all spring summer and fall. Don't remember it be gone all that often.
Neighbor across the street from him brings his MH time to time makes it tough to get by!
We haven't had our 5er home for over three years. Don't miss it at all. We replenish the week AFTER a trip, and only need perishable food day of departure. We pack that out of the home refer, into a tote.
